Special Called Meeting

Present: John Clemens, Andy Williams, Leslie Howard, Joan Crothers, Anna Denton, Michael
Courey, David Best, and Jim Olson.
Quorum: President John Clemens, thanked everyone for coming and declared, “We have a quorum.”
Discussion: TCCA has been asked by members of Save Lake Chatuge (SLC) to handle any monies
collected re: TVA drawdown to 10’ below winter pool of Lake Chatuge over a long period of time (6-
8 yrs.) to facilitate repairs to the Chatuge Dam spillway.
John said both he and Michael have checked and TCCA is not a 501(c)3, but has tax
exempt status. Each Board member expressed their opinion and concerns about the risk if we did this.
Michael felt there would be no risk of litigation if we only took in money and disbursed
money that was collected by SLC, became a 50l(c)3 and signed no contracts.
PLAN: 1.David made a motion that TCCA become a 501(c)3 as soon as possible; seconded and
approved. John said he will do this.
- We will have SLC give TCCA a written statement as to what they want the Board to do.
- Who is the designated person in SLC that we will deal with?
- John will contact Barrett Insurance to see if they can give us information in the event we
do hold money for SLC. Possibly get a second bid for insurance.
